The BAS Service Provider Portal

The ATO BAS Service Provider Scheme portal assists authorised bookkeepers who charge a fee for BAS services. The portal allows authorised BAS providers to:

  • Prepare and lodge BAS directly
  • View and revise previously lodged BAS
  • Add or delete clients from your portfolio
  • View client registration profiles
  • View payment options and download BAS payment forms
  • Communicate directly with the ATO securely on all BAS matters

For the safety and security of business owners, BAS authorised service providers will not be able to:

  • View or update client account information
  • Update client registration information
  • Change client preferences

The ATO provide a secure method to submit BAS directly through a digital certificate system provided to each authorised provider as a unique identity. Clients will be sent a letter of acknowledgement from the ATO outlining your addition to the authorised provider. The most important aspect for all clients who utilise a bookkeeper, is that access will only be granted to those who have met the legal requirements set by the ATO for BAS services for a fee; NJM & Co being one such authorised company.

Remember, if your BAS is handled by a bookkeeper, ensure they meet the current guidelines to complete such services for a fee. As at early 2008, all BAS providers must either be an accredited CPA or accredited BAS service provider from the ATO (excluding business owners who submit their own BAS). The ATO are removing the current system of working under an authorised tax agent.
